Raphael Soyer: A Birthday Celebration

Raphael Soyer’s (1899-1987) 80th birthday (December 25) was honored with 28 paintings and watercolors from the Hirshhorn’s permanent collection. Works were representational in style and ranged from a café scene to a full-scale portrait painted the year of the show, a gift to the Museum from the artist and his wife.
