Louis M. Eilshemius: Selections from the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden Collection
Nov 09, 1978–Jan 01, 1979
Fifty-eight paintings and 27 drawings and watercolors selected from the Hirshhorn’s collection of 250 Louis M. Eilshemius works composed this exhibition. A turn-of-the-century painter of visionary landscapes and nudes, Eilshemius (1864-1941) was almost entirely ignored until he was “discovered” in 1917 by Marcel Duchamp.
