Summer Sculpture ’77: Jules Olitski

This was the Hirshhorn’s first outdoor loan exhibition of contemporary sculpture, consisting of six large works by Jules Olitski (1922-2007) employing curved or corrugated sheets of oiled steel in horizontal or vertical layers, extending as much as 10 feet in height or width. The works were on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
