Black women play a foundational role in the history and legacy of Go-Go as singers, instrumentalists, managers, and organizers. However, the roles and experiences of women in the genre are largely overlooked. Moderated by GIRLAAA’s DJ Domo and Kelcie Glass, this week’s discussion will feature the following line-up:
Tabria Dixon – Lead vocalist for Rare Essence
Michelle Blackwell – Veteran singer, songwriter and Go-Go advocate
Kacey Williams – Lead singer of Black Alley
Waughny – Original member of the first all woman Go-Go band, Pleasure Band
Lil Boogie – Original member of the first all woman Go-Go band, Pleasure Band, and current member of the all-female Go-Go band, Bela Dona
