An Art Cart display sits on the floor in front of the entrance to Laurie Anderson,

Join us to make art with words inspired by artist Laurie Anderson. Young artists will look closely at Anderson’s Four Talks and use magnetic letter and word tiles to create their own word art. Make an anagram, compose a poem, construct a shape, or tell a joke!

Find the Art Cart on the Second Level to play with words.

Do this at home! Artist Tony Lewis loved Calvin and Hobbes when he was a boy. Inspired by a love of the “funny pages,” his artwork repurposes old comics into poems. Create.

Four comic strips of various sizes overlap, all of the details have been covered with various materials.

ABOUT THE ART CART

Until we can gather for Storytime again, the Art Cart offers young artists themed sets of materials. Each week’s Art Cart offers a fresh and fun theme featuring an artwork on view, an art making activity to do at the Museum, and kids projects to extend the fun at home! The Art Cart is free, no registration required. Every Thursday, 10 am–12 pm

Help keep each other safe and healthy! Review Smithsonian health and safety guidelines before your visit.  Stroller parking is available on the Lower Level.
