Black Joy Experience

Are you ready to get lifted? Join us on the Hirshhorn’s outdoor Plaza for the Black Joy Experience, an interactive community concert celebrating the transformative and uplifting power of joy through freedom songs and liberation chants. This free outdoor event will include live entertainment from more than twenty local artists and brighten your afternoon with the sounds of folk, jazz, gospel, hip-hop, and soul. All ages are welcome.

Featured entertainers include: Malik DOPE Drummer, K Charles, Christen B, Amber Mimz, Marvillous Beats, Suitland High School’s Center for Visual and Performing Arts, ARTLAB, Honey the DJ, CRAMER, Ivory Haze, Eddie the Artist, C’est Lief Band, Eden Gem, and more!

ARTLAB is a radically inclusive digital art studio for teens thirteen to nineteen years old, providing local youth free access to the latest technology, a wide range of art materials, and one-on-one mentorship from professional artists to support their creative learning. With a variety of special programs and resources, ARTLAB cultivates community and fosters the next generation of innovators.

This program is presented in partnership with the Smithsonian Year of Music and the We Shall Overcome Fund.
