Running time: 98 minutes
The Price of Everything dives deep into the trenches of the contemporary art scene, following artists, collectors, dealers, critics, and auctioneers as they navigate today’s money-driven market. Featuring interviews with a rich range of power players across the field as well as a spectrum of celebrity artists, including Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Gerhard Richter, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, and Larry Poons, the film raises concerns about definitions of value and explores the question: is the best art the most expensive art?
Following the film, producers Debi Wisch and Jennifer Blei Stockman will join Hirshhorn Director Melissa Chiu for a discussion about the labyrinthine art world and the underlying forces that determine commerce and creativity in today’s consumer-based society.
We encourage you to arrive early. Ring Auditorium seating is limited. Any open seats may be released to walk-up visitors 10 minutes before the program.
