Visual artworks are more often thought of as images rather than text, but many artists use words in their paintings, sculptures, and installations. Artistic movements of the twentieth century began to blur the line between image and text, and written language remains a powerful tool for artists today. This tour invites you to explore the way artists like Barbara Kruger, Joseph Kosuth, and the Guerrilla Girls manipulate and interrogate language in their works.
