Known for her large-scale sculptures and installations made from materials sourced via the internet, tourism, and local places, artist Rina Banerjee investigates the splintered experiences, prevalent in diasporic communities, of identity, tradition, and culture. Join her for a discussion on the toil and trade of diverse materials used to create her works—ranging from African tribal jewelry to colorful Chinese feathers, domestic light bulbs, and Italian Murano glass—and how they relate to topics of commodification, global economic flows, and the disposition of culture in diaspora that shape and reinvent her studio practice.

Dolcezza Coffee & Gelato will open at 8:45 am.
