STORYTIME: Martin’s Big Words
January 19, 2020 | 11:00 am–12:00 pm

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we will explore the power of big words. After viewing the very big words used in Barbara Kruger’s installation Belief + Doubt, we will read Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport. Then we’ll create a mini-installation of our own, using our own big words to share a message of love and kindness.
STORYTIME explores contemporary art through stories and movement. Each week features a fresh and fun theme. Bring your littlest art lover for an introduction to an artist on view, interactive read aloud, and a hands-on activity.
Nursing moms are welcome. Stroller parking is available in the Hirshhorn Lobby and Lower Level. Groups of 10 or more should contact mcgettigant@si.edu to reserve a program in advance. Please note: snacks are not allowed inside museum galleries, but you may eat outside on our Plaza, or in the ground floor lobby and cafe before or after the program.
An ASL interpreter may be requested for this program with one week’s advance notice. Contact mcgettigant@si.edu.
