Visitors in What Absence Is Made Of. Photo by Kate Warren

Dance! Join us for a special STORYTIME with the Washington Ballet! We will examine lines in art, read The Land of Lines by Victor Hussenot, and make lines with our own bodies. Following the story, stay for a dance workshop or make your own artwork.

As a special collaboration with the Washington Ballet’s Dance for All, STORYTIME will be offered in two sessions on April 17 at 10 am and 11:30 am. The Washington Ballet’s Dance for All offers over 50 free events throughout DC, April 6 – May 9.

STORYTIME explores contemporary art through stories and movement. Museum staff will read aloud a book, introduce children to an artist in the collection, and lead a hands-on activity. Nursing moms welcome. Stroller parking is available in the Hirshhorn lobby. Groups of 10 or more should contact mcgettigant@si.edu to reserve a program in advance. An ASL Interpreter may be requested for this program. Two weeks advance notice is appreciated. Please note: snacks are not allowed inside the Museum, but you may eat outside on our Plaza before or after the program.
