STORYTIME: Under the Cherry Blossom Tree
March 11, 2020 | 10:00 am–11:00 am

In celebration of cherry blossoms, join us for a read aloud of Under the Cherry Blossom Tree by Allen Say. We’ll take a close look at the Hirshhorn lobby’s tables, created by artist Hiroshi Sugimoto using a 700-year-old nutmeg tree. We’ll conclude by creating our own tree- and blossom-inspired works.
STORYTIME explores contemporary art through stories and movement. Each week features a fresh and fun theme. Bring your littlest art lover for an introduction to an artist on view, interactive read aloud, and a hands-on activity.
Nursing moms are welcome. Stroller parking is available in the Hirshhorn Lobby and Lower Level. Groups of 10 or more should contact mcgettigant@si.edu to reserve a program in advance. Please note: snacks are not allowed inside museum galleries, but you may eat outside on our Plaza, or in the ground floor lobby and cafe before or after the program.
ASL interpretation will be provided for this program.
