Crosscurrents of Modernism: Four Latin American Pioneers

Initially trained in Europe, the four artists showcased in this exhibition fused elements of their cultures with avant-garde ideas and styles. Ninety paintings, dating from 1910 to 1950, including the innovative works of Diego Rivera (Mexican, 1886-1957), Joaquin Torres-Garcia (Uruguayan, 1874-1949), Wifredo Lam (Cuban, 1902-1982), and Matta (Chilean-born French, 1911-2002) were on display.
