R. B. Kitaj

This exhibition, the first comprehensive retrospective of this American artist’s (1932-2007) works, included 102 paintings and pastels. Influenced by sources as diverse as Degas and de Kooning, Kitaj’s figurative imagery reflects his social concerns and deep compassion for the tragic nature of the human condition.
