This was the first in the series of Works exhibitions, and highlighted a wall drawing by the Conceptual artist Sol LeWitt (1928-2007), known for his use of grids and other geometric forms. The Works series allows an artist to play off the Hirshhorn’s distinctive architecture, inside or outdoors, to create a temporary, site-specific artwork.
