The Thomas Eakins Collection in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

The Hirshhorn’s Thomas Eakins (1844-1916) collection is one of the largest in the US; several of his works were on display for the first time in this exhibition. Visitors viewed 135 items, including the museum’s 52 Eakins paintings, letters, scrapbooks, studio memorabilia, and studies for many major works in photography, sculpture, and oil.
