Video artist Atlas created the sets for Antony and the Johnsons’ 2006 European tour. His designs included projections as well as a rotating onstage platform. Concert footage is here, but at the center of Atlas’s documentary are interviews conducted by bandleader Antony Hegarty with those who performed on this perch—thirteen women and transsexuals. The band’s haunting music and these discussions about gender, sexuality, identity, and empowerment provide alternative meanings to the title.
