The Hirshhorn is proud to be a part of the new PBS program “Digital Media: New Learners of the 21st Century.” The documentary film, underwritten by the MacArthur Foundation and the Pearson Foundation, profiles some of the exceptional and inspiring ways in which mobile and digital tools are used in classrooms, afterschool programs and museums to change the ways young people learn. Among these is the Hirshhorn’s pilot program of mobile learning workshops, launched last summer in partnership with the Pearson Foundation.
During the program, viewers will learn more about the groundbreaking research behind the Hirshhorn’s signature youth program, ARTLAB+. The program, which has grown out of its summer pilot with the help of the MacArthur Foundation, gives teens the space, resources and technology they need to explore their creativity while developing important digital and literacy skills. A preview clip is available at http://video.pbs.org/video/1767314964.
Registration for the spring 2011 season of ARTLAB+ is open: http://artlabplus.si.edu/artlabplus/registration.html.
