*This work has incorrectly been noted in several publications as being from the B.C. Holland Gallery, Chicago. That gallery owned a so-called "study" for The Corset (then known as Woman in Corset) from 1957-- a pen and watercolor work on paper, measuring 13 3/4x8 1/8 inches. The HMSG watercolor is clearly inscribed and dated in the LR corner. Based on size and the inscription, the work reproduced in the German exhibition catalog Richard Lindner (1968-69), and the books by Rolf-Gunter Dienst (1970) and Hilton Kramer (1975) was in fact The Corset, already in the HMSG collection, not the "study" belonging to B.C. Holland Gallery. ALM
