Musicians on Hirshhorn plaza performing

Members of the National Symphony Orchestra and 21st Century Consort will perform a concert of music by Mighty Young Composers! campers, the culmination of a free, nine-day workshop for elementary students entering grades 3–5. The public is invited to attend the hour-long presentation in the Ring Auditorium, Friday, June 28 at 3 pm.

Inspired by the New York Philharmonic initiative launched 25 years ago by composer Jon Deak, and in conjunction with the Hirshhorn’s resident new music ensemble, 21st Century Consort, Mighty Young Composers! is a pilot program that inspires, empowers, and equips DCPS students entering grades 3–5 with the skills to create and compose their own music and is led by musicians and teaching artists Ellen Hwangbo and Wade Davis.
