Alfred Henry Maurer: The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden Collection

Sixteen works by the American modernist (1868–1932), drawn entirely from the Hirshhorn’s collection, were exhibited, displaying the range of the artist’s style from his early Whistlerian portraits through his expressive figure studies and Cubist abstractions of the 1920s and early 1930s.
