Selections from the Joseph H. Hirshhorn Bequest (Painting and Sculptures)

On view were some 80 paintings and sculptures selected from the most important works among the the approximately 5,300 works bequeathed in 1981 by the Museum’s founding donor, Joseph H. Hirshhorn. Included were works by George Bellows, Arshile Gorky, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, and others. Also on view were approximately 70 prints, drawings, and watercolors by Fernand Léger, Pablo Picasso, Mary Cassatt, Robert Rauschenberg, and others.
