Adam Pendleton is a New York-based artist. His paintings, drawings, films, and other works are a continuous index in which gestures are recorded, transposed, and overwritten. Since 2008 he has articulated much of his work through the idea of Black Dada, an ever-evolving inquiry into the relationship between Blackness, abstraction, and the avant-garde. His recent solo exhibitions include Who Is Queen? at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2021–22) and Blackness, White, and Light at mumok in Vienna (opening March 31).
