Dreamscape Terraforming: Landscapes and Backgrounds

The setting of a story is just as important as the characters we place in it! OSGEMEOS sees their artwork as a portal to Tritrez, a mystical universe of peace and harmony that they created. During this workshop, teens will learn worldbuilding skills and the importance of daily observation to creation.

“Teen Studio: Endless Worlds” is a free monthly series of in-person art-making workshops led by teaching artists. Each 90-minute session is designed to engage teen artists in creative exercises inspired by the Hirshhorn’s exhibition OSGEMEOS: Endless Story, the largest US museum survey of artwork by the twin Brazilian artists known globally as OSGEMEOS, Portuguese for “the twins.”

Teens will gain skills and experience in illustration, digital art, and more. Join one session, or join them all!

Free. Workshops take place once a month on Thursdays from 4–5:30 PM. Registration required. Email hmsgeducation@si.edu to register; space is limited.

Materials: All materials are provided by the Museum.

Teen Studio: Finale

Character Design 2 – A Study in Style

OSGEMEOS is well known for their signature stylization of figures in their work. In our last session, we learned the basics of figure drawing with Gallery Gestures and Sculpture Studies. Now, it’s time to bring our characters to life by adding our own individual styles! Join us for our second session on Character Design, where we’ll learn the importance of silhouette, squash and stretch, and stylization.

Stencils: Negative Space, Baby!

Empty space has never meant so much. In this Teen Studio session, we’ll get inspired by patterns in artist duo OSGEMEOS’s vibrant works—including their murals, graffiti, and installations. With guidance from visual artist Ramon Cardenas, teen artists will design their own stencils, and then transform negative space to create their own patterned works. Open to teen artists of all skill levels.
