Forum: The Role of Contemporary Art Museums in the 21st Century

Contemporary museums throughout the world are increasingly engaged with the cultural, social, and technological changes embodied in the art and artists that they represent.  This discussion will place the perspectives of museum leaders from Spain, Latin America, and the U.S. in the broadest international context. Panelists include:

  • Manuel J. Borja-Villel, Director, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, and former president, International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM)
  • Richard Koshalek, Director, Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden
  • Natalia Majluf, Director, Museo de Arte de Lima
