Hirshhorn Plaza

This exhibition of more than 50 paintings, prints, and drawings by 14 artists introduced visitors to modernismo, a distinctively Catalan art movement developed by patrons of Els Quatre Gats (the Four Cats) café in Barcelona. Included in the show (organized by Marilyn McCully, Princeton University) were several works by Picasso, including two of his Blue Period paintings, as well as the café’s original sign, said to have been designed by him.
