Meet the Artists: Nick Cave, Imran Qureshi, and Pat Steir

Nick Cave, Imran Qureshi, and Pat Stier join the Hirshhorn for an enlightening discussion on their commitment to cultural diplomacy through the visual arts and international cultural exchange. The three artists are recipients of the 2017 International Medal of Arts, awarded by the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Art in Embassies to artists whose work serves as a bridge with other nations, encourages discussions and expression of opinions, highlights the communal experiences of people from other countries, cultures, and backgrounds worldwide. Each of the recipients has helped define America’s cultural legacy through artistic excellence.
Cave, Qureshi, and Steir will be joined by art critic and journalist Deborah Solomon, whose weekly column “Questions For” ran in The New York Times Magazine from 2003 to 2011. She is currently the art critic for WNYC Public Radio, the New York affiliate of NPR.
