Where can I get information about a specific work in your collection?
Nearly all of our almost 11,500 works are available to search online on the Hirshhorn website. Also visit the Smithsonian Institution Collections Search Center for additional information. The information is maintained and updated by the Hirshhorn staff and new records are frequently added. The Museum collection archives and research team can assist researchers. Please contact HMSGcollections@si.edu for more information.
You may also make an appointment to visit the Hirshhorn’s library to research specific artists and art movements. Library research arrangements can be made by emailing HMSGLibMail@si.edu or calling (202) 633-2773.
Collections storage improvements are underway for the rest of 2018. Due to construction in collection spaces, there will be limited access to artworks and a delay in processing research requests. Please contact the registration office at HMSGcollections@si.edu for more information about accessing our collections.
