Morris Louis
May 21–Jul 26, 1987

This was a retrospective of approximately 50 paintings by the artist Morris Louis (1912-1966), a major painter of the Washington Color School, whose large, delicate color abstractions were “poured” rather than brushed onto canvas. Featured painting series included Veils, Florals, Unfurleds, and Stripes. The exhibition was on tour from the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
