Teens standing in front of wall that reads Hirshhorn The National Museum of Modern Art

Are you a teen artist looking to build your skills? The Hirshhorn Museum offers creative arts programs for teens ages 13 to 19.

I’m interested, but aren’t museums stuffy and boring?

We hear you—some museums are just too quiet. We assure you that Hirshhorn Teens programs are loud and proud, and never boring. We believe that art museums are for everyone and that they should be active, creative spaces for young people. The Hirshhorn is all about the art and artists of our time, and that includes teen artists!

Whats in it for me?

  • Try out new art-making materials and experiment with different art styles
  • Enjoy cool opportunities to learn from artists, get behind-the-scenes access to the Hirshhorn, and more!
  • Level up your leadership, creativity, and confidence

How can I get involved?

During the school year, join us for Teen Studio every Saturday in the Hirshhorn Art School. Teen Studio is free; no application is needed.

During the summer, you can be a part of the Hirshhorn Teens Emerging Artists Program. Over 8 weeks, 15 teen artists work together to create a supportive studio community and make artwork to showcase at the end of the summer! Emerging Artists is a free application-based program. Applications open in March.
