Nancy Graves: A Sculpture Retrospective
Feb 19–Apr 26, 1987
This retrospective of 49 sculptures by the American artist Nancy Graves (1939-1995) surveyed her work from the 1960s to the time of the exhibition, focusing on her practice since 1979. Graves’s sculptures employ imagery derived from natural history, science, and everyday objects. Plant and marine life, animal bones and fossils, and even pleated lamp shades appear in her constructions and assemblages. Often her later work was cast in bronze and painted in varied colors. This exhibition was organized by the Fort Worth Art Museum, Texas.
