Hirshhorn Art School

Here at the Hirshhorn Art School, everyone is an artist. We also believe making art brings us closer to artists, artworks, and ideas. 

Join us to explore boundary-breaking artists in graffiti, installation, sculpture, and more. Participate in hands-on art-making and activities inspired by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Bradford, Joseph Cornell, and Barbara Hepworth.

Find the Hirshhorn Art School on the Museum’s Lower Level. Art School is part studio, part classroom, and part hangout: a hub where artists of all ages can access special guided programs from Wednesdays to Fridays and drop-in studio programming on Saturdays. Whether you’re visiting the Museum or connecting virtually, all our public programs are free.

Studio programs (Storytime Studio and Open Studio) are drop-in, with no registration required. Programs for school groups and teens require preregistration.
